What is Repaglinide for:
This medication is a meglitinide antidiabetic, prescribed for type 2 (non-insulin-dependent) diabetes. It decreases the amount of glucose by stimulating the pancreas to release insulin.
How does Repaglinide work:
Repaglinide raises insulin levels and helps tissues respond better to the insulin.
How should Repaglinide be used:
It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with food. Adults- PO- The recommended initial dose is 0.5 mg with each meal.
Common side effects of Repaglinide:
Low blood sugar. Signs include anger, shaking, a fast heartbeat, confusion, or sweating. Keep hard candies, glucose tablets, liquid glucose, or juice on hand for low blood sugar. Headache. Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. Weight gain.
What do I do if I miss a dose?
Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses.
